Kanuga 09

Grace and peace!

The Kanuga Parish Weekend was awesome! There were over 125 parishioners at Kanuga, and this included 11 of our youth. Tracy Radosevich was the speaker for the adults, and she is a Biblical Storyteller. The youth dropped in with the adults on Friday night to get introduced to storytelling. They seemed to dig it, and we even participated in the discussion! Then we went back to Harold House, where we were staying together, and ate snacks and played a long game of Apples to Apples.

Saturday morning started with a great breakfast, and then we dove into our own program. We tied into the storytelling theme by studying the creation story. We told and retold a narrative of the creation story. Then we identified 12 images/themes from the story, and we created 12 storyboards with spray paint, acrylic, and other medium. They turned out great!

After lunch we took a group trip into historic downtown Hendersonville. We shopped and goofed off in the General Mast Store and grabbed ice cream at Kilwin's Ice Cream. We checked out the toy store and the rock and mineral museum. We headed back to Kanuga and rested for a bit before dinner. After dinner was a parish Valentine's Dance. Can I just say it? ...Hilarious! We ended the evening with a movie on a big screen in Harold House.

Sunday morning started with a filling breakfast (love the bacon and eggs at Kanuga), and after packing up, we committed time to walking the Labyrinth. This was a calming, prayerful experience that prepared us for Eucharist. I really enjoyed Tracy's stories during church. She is great!

Overall, it was a great weekend...check out the pics:
